Hi, my name is Abdul Muiz,
I come from a family that loves painting. My grandfather and dad were leisure oil painters. In fact, my dad had been interested in painting military miniatures. since he was young.
My mom always supported my passion and enthusiasm for painting. When I was younger, she kept all of my childhood drawings in a folder and sent me to weekend art classes while she went to adult religious classes. My turning point was when I was 15 years old, I saw an advertisement for a free art workshop held by the local arts and crafts initiative backed by the state government. In the Craft Village painting workshops, I studied under Kelantanese watercolor and pastel veteran painters: Mokhtar Ishak and Ismail Kadir.
In my late high school years I was selected to attend a workshop representing my state in the National Art Gallery internship program. After I finished high school, I studied at an art school in Kuala Lumpur: The One Academy. That is where I studied under professional illustrators and was exposed to the creative commercial industry.
Soon after I worked for an Australian console gaming studio until I was an (Environment) Lead - concept artist. It was an important learning experience as I was able to harness my digital painting skills and speed. Eventually, I went to India and Yemen where I was particularly involved in painting on location. These trips helped me refine my painting skills, selection of tools and vision for the sort of paintings I would like to do.
Currently, I am a full time fine art landscape painter and a freelance 2D (environment and props) concept artist.
